  • NurseAid is mentioned in Chief Nursing Officers Bulletin.

The Chief Nursing Officer for England, Christine Beasley has been publicising the work of NurseAid. She mentioned the charity in her ‘Voices’ column in the Nursing Standard and has featured the charity in the October 07 edition of the Chief Nursing Officers Bulletin (see page 5).

  • A bumper year for grant giving at NurseAid.

During 2007 the charity has awarded grants totalling almost £423,000. This money has been used to support over 300 nurses with a regular weekly grant and a further 204 with a single gift.

We are delighted to announce that this has been our biggest ever grant making year and are determined that this will increase year on year. To this end the Trustees of NurseAid have agreed a grants budget of almost £460,000 for 2008. We know that our grants make a huge difference to those we help and we want to help more. As one nurse said, in a recent letter,

‘ This year, amongst all the hospital visits, has brought me also the joy of meeting new friends especially from the caring part of our community and among them folk like you who I have never met (and alas, up till now had never heard of) all wanting to help me. All I can say is, inadequately, that the words in the Christmas letter and a wonderful extra present, brought joy to my heart. The gladness and appreciation of you will stay with me a long time.’

We think this letter says more than we ever could about the difference we can make and the need for more nurses to hear of us. Watch this space for more news.

  • NurseAid invests in reaching more nurses in need.

NurseAid is determined that more nurses will hear about the support available to them and has appointed leading voluntary sector marketing agency, Target Direct, to develop a strategy to ensure that nurses, student nurses and auxiliary nurses hear more about the charity.

The Chairman of Council, Mr. David Hart, says

‘It is appalling that here is NurseAid, a charity specifically for nurses, and nurses have not heard of us. I am determined that by the year 2010 at least half of all nurses will know our name and know that there is help there for them should they need it

I am delighted that we have appointed Target Direct to work with us in furthering our work’.

The Trustees and staff of the charity share his view and will all be giving their time and energy to ensure that nurses everywhere will be hearing about NurseAid.
We will keep you all updated on our progress.
