Trustees

Simon KnightonSimon Knighton Chairman

Simon Knighton is the new Chairman of Cavell Nurses' Trust, he also chairs the Board of Sirona Care and Health having been appointed in June 2011.
He had previously worked at Chief Executive and/or Director level in a number of socially based businesses and most recently had led the transfer from the NHS of the Expert Patients Programme to set it up as the UK's first national Community Interest Company.
Prior to this he set up and ran the finance and insurance companies that operated the Motability Wheelchair Scheme, having previously been the Operations Director of the main £2.5bn car scheme.
In this capacity, amongst other initiatives, he led the award winning Customer First franchise which set service quality standards for disabled people amongst Motability's 3000 car dealers.
Simon took the decision to work in the social economy after an earlier life working in international oil exploration, followed by the set up and subsequent sale of his own group of small companies.
Outside work he is a keen climber and mountaineer and this year, after a number of successes on European and South American Peaks, he reached 7800m on the challenging Everest north ridge. He has also twice sailed the Atlantic.
Simon is married with four children and lives in Wiltshire.

Mr. Stephen Charlton - Honorary Treasurer -Chairman of the  Finance and Investment Committee

Mr Charlton is the Chief Financial Officer of Eurocastle Investment Ltd, part of the Fortress Investment Group. He was appointed to the management of GAGFAH Group as Chief Financial Officer in January 2011.  Prior to joining Fortress Mr Charlton worked for Gordian Knot Limited where he spent 10 years also as Chief Financial Officer. Stephen is chair of the Finance and investment committee.

 

Paul Jackson ClarkMr. Paul Jackson-Clark- Lead Trustee, Fundraising
Mr. Jackson-Clark is a senior manager in the not-for-profit sector. He has first hand experience of all major types of fundraising, large scale information system implementations, authoring strategic plans and facilitating business process change. He is the Director of Fundraising at Parkinson's UK. He became a Trustee of NurseAid in May 2007.

 

 

 

Miss Di Caulfeild-Stoker, MBE - Lead Trustee, Welfare Grants

Mrs Caulfeild-Stoker is the Divisional Chair for community services at St Georges hospital, London and formerly the Director of Provider Services at Wandsworth PCT. She has been a Director within the NHS since 2001 in both hospital and community settings. She has also held general management and marketing positions and has considerable experience in developing Clinical Governance and Risk Management systems and processes.

Mrs. Carolyne Curties
Mrs Curties is a Registered Nurse and qualified Counsellor. She worked in the fields of psychiatry, neurology and as an addiction counsellor and is now retired.

Professor Christina Edwards, CBE
Mrs Edwards has extensive experience in nursing, professional and general management. Her current role is Director of Nursing at the National Performance Support Team at the Department of Health. Mrs Edwards has worked at all levels of the Healthcare economy form the grass roots to national levels in addition to having experience of the voluntary sector. In 2002, she was awarded an honorary professorial chair in the Department of Nursing and Health Studies at the University of Hull.

Mr. Lindsay Forbes
Mr Forbes has extensive experience in commercial banking, structured finance and private equity. He has extensive management experience in international and multi-cultural environments and currently works for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development assisting former ComeCon economies in the transition to free market economies. Mr Forbes is a qualified solicitor and has an MBA. He is a member of the Finance and Investment Committee.

GostickMs Susan Gostick
Susan Gostick has broad experience in investments and trusteeship. The early part of her career was spent at a leading pension consultancy firm acting as consultant and trustee for company pension schemes. She currently works in investment management and been responsible for a broad range of institutional clients including charities, pension schemes, corporations and sovereign wealth funds. She has specific experience in evaluating long term investment strategy and tactical asset allocation. Susan is a member of the Pension Management Institute. and is a member of NurseAid's Finance and Investment Committee.

 

 

Mrs. Alison Holdsworth -Lead Trustee, Legal
Mrs Holdsworth has been in independent practice as a Barrister (practising as Alison Hewitt) since 1986. She works in a number of areas including Disciplinary Tribunals, Judicial Reviews, Personal Injury/Clinical Negligence and Employment Law. Mrs Holdsworth also has experience of acting as a Legal Assessor for the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Mrs Holdsworth is a member of the Finance and Investment Committee.

critchleyMiss Deborah Critchley
Deborah qualified as a Registered General Nurse and specialised in the Care of Older People. Deborah then moved into operational management and has worked in both primary and secondary care organisations. Deborah has also worked nationally for the Department of Health supporting all health sectors to move from challenged organisations to ones that were meeting all national and local requirements. Deborah has a first degree and an MBA. In 2007 Deborah set up her own company and works mainly in health related sectors providing consultancy and interim management.


LindaThomasMrs Linda Thomas OBE

After qualifying as a registered general nurse, Linda chose to specialise in the care of older people. She went on to become an adviser in the care of older people at the Royal College of Nursing until joining the staff of Nursing Standard in 1987 when it launched as a magazine. Linda worked in various roles within the RCN Publishing Company until her appointment as Managing Director/Publisher, a post she held until retirement in summer 2010. She was awarded the OBE for services to nursing in 2004.

 

 

Mrs Jill Cox

Mrs Cox is a general and mental health nurse and is also qualified as both a Community (General) Nurse and a Community Psychiatric Nurse.  With broad experience working at board and chief executive level she has held senior posts in community and mental health trusts. Since June 2011, Jill Cox is Clinical Director, for Milliman Care Guidelines UK.

Miss Susan Osborne CBE

Miss Osborne is a professional nurse and midwife who specialised in intensive care medicine and medical nursing has, amongst other senior management roles, been the Chief Executive of the Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital; Director of Nursing Services for St Mary Hospital NHS Trust, London; Director of Nursing, Imperial College Healthcare; NHS Trust Chief Nurse NHS East of England.  Susan established her own consultancy company and works as an Interim Director in NHS Trusts as a Management & Nursing Consultant
